1. Balance and moderation are the main characteristics of this religion. This religion deals with all aspects of human being – physical, mental and spiritual – in a balanced and moderate fashion. It does not focus on one aspect at the expense of others. It deals with society as a group of individuals, each with their individual characteristics and social relations. Allah almighty says: “So [prophet], as a man of pure faith, stand firm and true in your devotion to the religion. This is the natural disposition Allah instilled in mankind – there is no altering Allah’s creation – and this is the right religion, though most people do not realize it. – (Quran 30:30)
2. Islam fights extremism, radicalism, extravagance and rigidity. Allah says: “We have made [believers] into a just community, so that you may bear witness [to the truth] before others and so that the Messenger [PBUH] may bear witness [to it] before you.” (Quran 2:143)
3. Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] said: “Verily this religion is easy. Anyone who overburdens himself in religion will be overpowered by religion. Therefore, seek the straight path, come close and accept the good tidings”. He [PBUH] said: “Make things easy, and not difficult, for people. Give them glad tidings and do not repel them. He [PBUH] also said: “Beware of extremism in religion. People before you were doomed because of extremism”. He [PBUH] also said three times repeatedly: “Extravagant people are doomed.”
