OIC Secretary General Strongly Condemns Attack against Military Camp in Mali

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the attack on the Imghad Tuareg and allied (Gatia) self-defense group at Tinessako in Kidal region, which killed a dozen people on Saturday, 21 January 2017. The OIC also condemned the explosion of a mine in the region of Gao on Sunday, 22 January 2017, causing the death of three Malian soldiers.

The OIC Secretary General, Dr. Yousef A. Othaimeen, expressed his deep concern at the situation of perpetual insecurity that constitutes a serious threat to the implementation of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali. He considered the perpetrators of terrorist acts as enemies of peace and must be brought to justice.

Secretary General Othaimeen expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and to the Government of Mali, to which he reaffirmed his support, with the commitment of OIC to continue its efforts for the effective implementation of the Agreement for the Peace and Reconciliation in Mali.
