Islam is not – as claimed by many – a violent and bloodthirsty religion. Nor is its goals to impose itself on the people so that it become the sole religion. The Prophet was the first to realise that all attempts to impose a world religion would fail. Such is contrary to the laws of existence and defies the will of the Lord. “Had your Lord willed, He could have made humanity one community, but they continue to differ”. (Hud: 118) “But most people, for all your eagerness, are not believers.” (Yousef: 103) “Had your Lord willed, everyone on earth would have believed. Will you compel people to become believers?” (Yunis: 99) “You cannot guide whom you love, but God guides whom He wills, and He knows best those who are guided.” (Al-Qasas: 56) (Umar bin Abdul Aziz Qureshi: Tolerance in Islam)
