Ibn Kathir wrote answering the above question:” If the Khawarij ever gained power, they would corrupt the entire earth, Iraq, and Syria. They would not leave a boy or a girl or a man or a woman, because of their view that the people have become so corrupt that they cannot be rehabilitated except by mass killing.
