The signs of ISIL and its alike groups were frequently mentioned in the hadiths of the prophet, as a way to warn Muslims from their deception. Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH), said:” There will emerge from the east some people from my nation who recite the Quran but it will not go beyond their throats. Every time a faction of them emerges it will be cut off”. The Prophet repeated this and on the tenth time he said:” Every time a faction of them emerges it will be cut off …” (Musnad Aḥmad)
