The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen has condemned in the strongest terms the killing of at least forty (40) civilians on 26 and 27 April 2018 by suspected extremists active in the regions of Anderamboukane and Infoukaretane, near Mali’s northeastern border with Niger.
The Secretary General deplores this resurgence of violence in Mali in recent weeks which is spilling into neighboring countries, endangering the implementation of the 2015 Agreement on Peace and Reconciliation in Mali and the stability of the Sahel region.
While extending his condolences to the families of the victims as well as wishing prompt recovery of the wounded, Dr. Othaimeen added that all acts of terrorism as purely crimes against humanity and should be treated as such.
