As a fundamental principle, Islam does not compel people of other faiths to convert to Islam. It demands that Muslims accept the others as they are. It gives everyone a complete autonomy to retain whatever faith they wish and never allows for anyone to be forced into Islam. This freedom is documented in both the Qur’an and the prophetic teachings. Allah addresses the Prophet Muhammad in the Qur’an: “If it had been your Lord’s will, they would all have believed – all of who are on earth! Will you then compel humankind, against their will, to believe?” (Quran 10:99)
