OIC Secretary General Condemns Terrorist Attack in Mogadishu

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the headquarters of the Somali Interior Ministry in Mogadishu on Saturday, 7 July 2018, that resulted in numerous casualties and injuries.

Dr. Al-Othaimeen expressed his regret over the terrorist attacks carried out by Al-Shabaab terrorist group, which claimed responsibility for the attack, on security forces and innocent civilians. He also expressed his deep sympathy and sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Somalia.

The OIC Secretary General reiterated the OIC’s full solidarity with the Somali authorities in their ongoing struggle against terrorism and called on the international partners of Somalia and the countries of the region to provide further support to and strengthen partnership with Somalia to eliminate the threat that Al-Shabaab terrorist group continues to pose to regional peace and security.
