Opened in 1897 AD, The Museum of Ancient Antiquities and Islamic Arts in Algeria houses rare artifacts documenting the various civilizations of Algeria since the dawn of history, including the oldest Islamic collection dating back to 1846 AD.
The museum displays Islamic artifacts covering the period between the 9th and 15th centuries, including the minbar (pulpit) of the Great Mosque, a collection of the rarest artifacts of Islamic civilization in Andalusia and a rare Qur’an that is one of the oldest in the world.
