The OIC Secretary General Dr. Youssef Al- Othaimeen has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on 4 October 2017 in Niger at its border with Mali, which caused a number of casualties among Nigerien soldiers and their American partners. He presented his sincere condolences to the authorities in Niger and US over the tragic loss and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured. He further appealed to them to identify those behind the attack and bring them to justice.
While reaffirming the principled position of the OIC against all forms and manifestations of terrorism, Dr. Othaimeen called on the international community to reinforce cooperation and partnership to combat and defeat this enemy of humanity. The Secretary General also urged international partners to extend all necessary assistance to empower the new G5 Sahel Joint Force formed by countries of the region in order to counter terrorism and insecurity in their common space.
